Over the past 3 days, I have been wrapped up in a project.
I wanted to bring an idea to life, so I embarked on an app build.
Candidly, I thought the app would be done by now. I am only building an MVP.
Humbled a bit, I assumed it would be easier than it is.
Trust me, Claude crushes it, the heavy lifting undertaken is tremendous. But getting everything all of the code to work at the same time, isn’t a perfect science and things go wrong.
I am likely putting myself at a disadvantage using Claude to code my files.
Claude was trained on data that stopped evolving at a point in the past. And as a result, Claude is using dated data and practices.
I have certainly encountered that sometimes when I feed “error message” data into Claude, it will say “Oh, wait, that no longer works because that practice is no longer followed. Let’s try a different way.”
Yes, Claude is brilliant at holding my hand and guiding me step by step through this app development and launch process. Yet Claude doesn’t have perfect information, so Claude is blind, Claude has to guess on workarounds. Sometimes they work, sometimes they fail. But none-the-less, Claude is what I am using.
And that leads me to here today.
My app is live-ish, right now on Vercel.
The plumbing is just not yet 100.
But getting it to deploy took me a long time to work through.
Seeing it live on the screen is brilliant!
But it still doesn’t work.
Can’t wait until it does. Because, it is truly an awesome app!
Claude is making me take a break right now. But, I will be back at 7.

Back to Claude’s ability to build.
I think Claude does an exceptional job getting 98% of the details right, but that last 2% is a wild card.
Sometimes it is going to give me something that will work. And sometimes, often it will give me something that doesn’t or even something that breaks something else. So there is a lot of trial and error. Claude having me try code. And me giving Claude the error messages.

This exercise has me thinking that there is a lot of me time wrapped up in this. Like, hell yeah the AI is enabling me to compute at a level x-fold beyond my thinking capacity, but I am still involved in this building process.
This could all be done by a AI bot tool.
Tell the bot, here is what we are building, background, data, etc. with the instructions to build it. You give it a desired output. In this case, desired output = a working app, live on the internet.
We are at a place right now where this could a reality, or at least very close to it.
Wild.
update: the app is live! And it works!
