talking AI w Mom

I was talking to my Mom the other night and she was telling me how she was trying to help a friend with a personal matter. The challenge was the data is rapidly evolving and she isn’t up to speed on certain data points.

*ding*

A lightbulb went on…

She could solve this with AI.

Perplexity, to be more specific.

The ability to gather and analyze realtime, up-to-date data and scrape the web in real time, gives Perplexity its thunder.

And I think it could help my Mom with her data problem.

And so that had me curious, wondering if it was possible to collect the data that was needed.

So I went to Perplexity. And I tried it myself.

And it worked, at least I think. I was satisfied with the results. But I am not an expert, and it will likely mean a lot more to her.

Out of respect for the friend, I am not including any prompts or responses. However, it did work as far as I am concerned. And I recognized the source of many of the academic studies referenced in the response to be from an industry specific research database.

I started to share this response with my Mom. But I stopped myself from hitting send.

I was curious to know if she had given Perplexity any additional thought. Yet, I decided I wanted to see if she would nurture that AI conversational seed and use it.

Translation: I am going to give her time to arrive at it on her own.

But I will bring it up again down the road.

Our conversation shifted to a health app and it triggered something in my brain:

In December, I leveraged AI to build a health app.

We started talking about the health app and she told me about the health app she was using.

I could tell immediately, that mine was better. Yet it was just a python script on my laptop.

But it was interesting to see the operation behind that app. It wasn’t just an app. It was marketing, sales, operations, etc.

And then I told her about my app a bit more in detail. And I explained how the UX would work and how it was a 100x better experience for the user.

I will save the details for another time, but the conversation was so exciting.

AI is a lot of fun!

Question for the internet: Do you talk AI with your family?
